Growing up beside the Yellow River, the most fun I ever had as a child was digging up unique rocks in the riverbank. The shapes, the patterns, the formations—even how rocks look different when they are wet or dry—all aspects of rocks fascinate me to this day. My relationship with design is exactly the same as my childhood river mining game. The more I immerse myself into design, the greater I feel the pull of its gravity. The compelling part of mining is the process of continuously shortening the distance between the possible ore and myself. I apply that same process to design, digging in and breaking down problems, discovering ideas, then developing ideas into a comprehensive and beautiful solution. In this way, I am mining through design.
